Sundial, calendar and Khmer temples

Graphs and calculations

The analemma above shows the position of the shadow of the sun at 12:00:00 mean-time throughout a year.

The analemma on the photo from the sundial floor and the computerized analemma are clearly related, but not identical. The computerized analemma is "made" at the timeline (of the time-zone); the analemma on the photo is made at a longitude 2 minutes before the timeline.

A: The original graph shows the difference between solar-time and mean-time.
B: The original graph is cut along the summer and winter solstice lines.
 C: The cut is mirrored.
D: The pieces are spliced together and we have an analemma-like figure.

The two graphs describe the same: Equation of time.
The difference in the shape is due to that the units on the x-axis are different.
